The Baltimore Ramblers is one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in the U.S. and the oldest continually operating club in Maryland. Throughout our 90+ year history, we have had multiple focuses, including parade riding, touring, board track racing, flat track racing, and hill climbing.
The Baltimore Ramblers was founded on January 6, 1929 and originally met at 611 W. North Ave. in Baltimore City. The Club joined the American Motorcyclist Association (A.M.A.), where we are currently recognized as a Historic A.M.A. club. The Baltimore Ramblers M.C. is a traditional MC – a collection of Brothers who like to ride and have a good time.
In its first 30+ years, the Baltimore Ramblers – along with their Ladies’ Auxiliary – were both a touring and parade club, participating in events as far north as New Hampshire and winning numerous awards.
In the 1960s, we purchased about 25 acres in the Soldiers Delight area in Baltimore County and moved out of the City of Baltimore. The Club got into off-road riding, as this new location became the training ground for dirt bike racing and hill climbing. On the property was an abandoned streetcar which became the club's meeting place.
In 1979, conservationists discovered a rare plant on the existing property. As a result, and under pressure from the State of Maryland, we reluctantly sold our acreage to the state and purchased a piece of property adjacent to the former site – a small house that served as a summer cottage for families escaping the heat of Baltimore City. With the trails and hills no longer available, the Club focused more on riding and touring. This era is marked by the many poker runs that the Club sponsored – long before they became popular elsewhere.
Beginning in 2019, the Baltimore Ramblers returned to its roots as a traditional M.C., a tight knit Brotherhood who rides and values our Club, our colors, our country, and our families.
